Boomerangs are from Australia

The China Airlines flight left 15 minutes late…which was the end of the good news, after a couple of hours into the flight , just after the prawn noodles & ice cream – Auckland closed the airport once again and we had to turn round and fly back to Brisbane.

So , here we go again filling out the Australia Passenger Form, telling the Border Force guy that we have nowhere to stay in Oz and couldn’t really say how long we were staying in their lovely country.

As ever no one from Quantas was around , China Airlines just said they’d weren’t flying to Auckland again for a week at least.

There and back…

Cue 45 minutes on the phone to Quantas whilst Alison hunted for a hotel with rooms available (none anywhere near the airport).

The ‘best’ Quantas can offer is a flight leaving Brisbane at 18:15 on Friday direct to Auckland. Alison finds a city centre hotel for 1 night and off we go – arriving around 9:00pm. Still slightly better off than a guy we met who had been sent via Seoul by Air New Zealand and was still no nearer home….

The Sofitel in central Brisbane deserves some kind of award for pretentious under achieving, too long a story for now.

Another hotel, another view from the room
