Day Three – Fat Lady singing

Down to the ground for the start of England’s reply (after disposing of the last two Indians – hardly a challenge)

Graeme Swann said good morning to us as he wafted past into the pavilion, we were happy to reply in kind.

First half went to plan, Jimmy got his 700th wicket and Bashir his 5fer.

Set a small target to achieve parity it all went downhill fairly quickly.

Bumrah to Crawley

Basically it was a procession of poor shot choices or really good bowling by India that meant that we nearly didn’t get to lunch.

So another selection of Indian food for lunch and then we watched the England tail try to stay with Joe Root for as long as possible. The inevitable happened before tea (do these people not know I need my tiffin?), the after game presentations seemed interminable but at least Joe Root & Ben Foakes won awards for their performances over the entire tour.

Then we have have the obligatory selfie to prove we were there..

Smile. You’re meant to be enjoying it

Walked round the ground to find our driver and made our way back to the hotel. Decided to have a rest day tomorrow (it is Sunday after all) and then hopefully get a guide and ‘do’ Dharamshala on Monday.

In the evening shared a table with an ex-Worcester (83-84) & Essex player Mike McEvoy. Had some great stories about upsetting Imran Khan on the county circuit and the consequences thereof.
