Tuesday 11th – right out in the country

Not too early a start, but 2+ hours driving to Pu Luong reserve for a walk through the paddy fields – all terraces in this area, Did the short ‘easy’ walk so only clocked 7.2 Km or 10,750 steps. Had a picnic lunch in a deserted Homestay. Not too shabby a view though :

The crop is beginning to be harvested so the road was covered with sheets holding drying rice and vast swathes of rice stalks drying to be used as kindling and similar. The bamboo harvested from the hillside forests is cut and brought down to the road where it is weighed and then loaded onto trucks – none of which have brakes but they do have a very loud horn.

The rice terraces have a beauty all of their own and are not to be missed.

We got back to the resort around 3:30pm (with a doggy bag from lunch in our hands). Then it seemed the only decent thing to was to cool down in our private plunge pool

Warmer than you think
